Praying for Ourselves

1. God's kingdom provides the context for praying for ourselves.

   1. We pray as God's children

      1. Our Father in heaven:

• Romans 8:16-17; Malachi 1:6; Eph 3:14-15

  1. We pray as God's subjects

• 1Timothy 1:17; Revelation 15:3; Psalm 145:10-13; 1Peter 2:9

  1. We pray according to His will

• Deut 28:1-14 and fulfillment in Rev 22

• Pray that God will provide for us.

  1. God provided food to his ancient people.

  2. God provides the blessings of daily needs to all His people.

• Matt 6:32; Ecclesiastes 5:19

  1. God provides even for those who deny He is.

• Matt. 5:45; Psalm 104:14-15; Psalm 145:15-17

• Pray that God will forgive us.

  1. Forgiveness is a privilege of the children of God which Christ purchased for us by his own blood.

  2. Forgive us our debts.

• Romans 8:1-2

• 1. Forgive us as we forgive our debtors.

• Luke 17:3; Colossians 3:12-13; Luke 23:34; Luke 11:4

• Pray that God will protect us.

  1. God does not tempt.

• James 1:13

  1. Temptation occurs when the evil of sin in us becomes stimulated.

• James 1:14

  1. Father, provide a way out.

• 1Cor 10:13

  1. Give thanks for the protection of His Church.

• Isaiah 26:1-4

• We pray for Covenant blessings from our heavenly Father.
