and to receive comfort.
What is it to mourn?
Professional mourning (Jer 9:17-18; Mt 9:23)

What should we mourn?
The citizens of God's kingdom are mourning sin, evil, wickedness. [Jer 9:24; Jer 17:9]
We should mourn depravity, ours and others'.
Adam and Eve: denial, then mourning. [Gen 4:25]
Our comfort comes from the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death.
Our comfort comes from the certainty of God's promises. [Gen 3:20; 3:15]
Our comfort comes through Christ's atoning death. [John 16:19-22]
Our comfort is assured by the witness of Christ's resurrection.
Comfort is appropriated through faith in Christ. [Mark 16:9-10; 14]
The comfort of those who mourn comes through the work of Jesus the Messiah.[Isaiah 61:1-3]
