Hebrews 5:8 Christ's Obedience
Christ suffered vicariously on the cross.
Christ offered up Himself.

Christ willingly underwent his sacrificial humiliation, though with tears, pain, sorrow.

Christ learned obedience through the things which he suffered.

Christ perfectly obeyed the will of God.
Christ actively kept the whole law of God as Covenant head of God's elect.

And having been perfected through sufferings, Christ is the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him.

Christ is the ground for our obedience.
Those who obey him are his. (5:9)

We learn obedience through suffering.
Although our sufferings do not win us merit with God.
We suffer that we might embrace Christ with more assurance.
Christ provides mercy for us when we confess our guilt and repent of sin: Heb 4:15-16
