The power of the Word of God
You can trust the word of God.
A living word - not a dead letter.
- Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever."
A powerful word - it doesn't just sit on the page.
- 2Cor 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
A sharp word - able to penetrate what nothing else can.
The word of God comes from the mouth of Christ.
The Word is the weapon of the Lord himself.
- Isaiah 49:2 and Rev 1:16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.
- Rev 19:12
The Word has eyes to see with.
- John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

- Messiah in Daniel 10:6 and Revelation 1:14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; and Revelation 19:12
We live before the face of the Lord.

The Word of God is the only rule for faith and obedience.
The word of God, which is contained in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, is the only rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him.
- Ephesians 2:20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
- Deuteronomy 30:14 and Romans 10:9
- Psalm 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!
The Word of God teaches you what to believe and how to live.
- Deut 8:3; Matt 4:4 Lk 4:4 "man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD."

- 1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith
The Word of God guides you into that rest in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, established in love.
- Living the examined life.
If the Word of God is to profit you, the Holy Spirit must be your teacher.
- 1 Corinthians 2:13
- Ps 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
The same Word of God has been guiding God's people into righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit from the beginning.
- Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
- Deuteronomy 10:12-13

- 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
