Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ, the Eternal One

  I.  Who is Jesus Christ?
 

      A.  This is the question Jesus himself asked: Matt 16:13, 15
        

John 18:33-37; 1Tim 1:16-17

      B.  The world projects many identities on Jesus Christ.
      C.  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
        

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.

  II.  Yesterday
 

      A.  Context: “be remembering those who led you...
        

The yesterday of redemption, but more...

      B.  God’s yesterday can be many of ours, Psalm 90:4

      C.  Christ’s yesterday is from beyond the beginning.

   III. Today
 

      A.  Christ’s today fills all of time.
        

Hebrews 1:5; Psalm 102:27, Malachi 3:6; Revelation 1:8

      B.  Christ’s today was then and is now.

      C.  Christ’s today is upon us this Lord’s Day.

  IV.  Forever
 

      A.  Forever is beyond count, though Christ subjected himself to time.

      B.  Forever means for the world that its time is limited because the
kingdom of God is coming upon it.
        

Hebrews 12:27

      C.  Forever means for sceptics that you will certainly face Christ at
the end of your time.

      D.  Forever means for Christians that in Christ’s presence we dwell
in peace and safety.
