Hebrews 12:18-24 Heaven’s Assembly

Heaven’s assembly is our final home, our present hope, and our constant reminder.

I. Heaven’s assembly surpasses the assembly at Mt. Sinai.

	A. Sinai’s assembly showed our need for a mediator and sacrifice to turn away God’s anger.

        B. Jesus makes it possible to approach God in peace.

	    * Heb 4:16; 7:25; 10:1, 10; 11:6. 1Peter 2:4.

        C. Mount Zion and the heavenly Jerusalem are a refuge to those who in trust Christ.

But you have come...home.

II. Heaven’s assembly is our present hope.

        A. You have come to God’s mountain and to God’s city on the mountain.

	    * Revelation 21:2; Heb 11:10 & 16; Eph 2:19; Rev 22:14-15.

        B. You have come to the glorious celebration of God’s grace.

	    * Rev19:6.

        C. You have come to the only Mediator between God and men.

	    * 1Tim 2:5; James 1:18; Rev 3:5.

III. Heaven’s assembly is our constant reminder.

	A. It is a constant reminder of the way of approach to the living God.

	    * Heb 12:25; Heb 12:14; Heb 13:15.

        B. We are reminded of how precious is the communion of the saints.
