Hebrews 11

By Faith.

  1. The Patriarchs teach us that people with biblical faith are not afraid to trust the True and Living God. [Heb 11:17-22]

    1. In writing Heb 11, the apostle is building on the foundation of Christ.

    2. Abraham learned that God does not necessarily work things out according to our expectations, but God always works things out according to his word.

    3. Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph believed God's Word and taught their descendants to have forward-looking faith!

  2. The Exodus and conquest of Canaan teach us that forward-looking faith is vindicated by history. [Heb 11:23-31]

    1. People with biblical faith resist tyranny that opposes the work of God.

    2. People with biblical faith are not ashamed to be identified with God's people.

    3. People with Biblical faith are not afraid to obey God and confront the world.

  3. The histories teach us that those with living faith face death and suffering many times over in this life. [Heb 11:32-38]

    1. With small armies and a great God people of living faith overcome the world.

    2. The leaders of God's people advanced his kingdom on earth with living faith and few supporters.

    3. People with living faith are not afraid to face the threat of death.

  4. The Church in our generation needs people who obtain a good testimony through their faith. [Heb 11:39]

    1. We in the 21st Century need to continue trusting God to bring history to the conclusion he reveals to us in the Bible.

    2. We in our generation need to believe God's Word, the Bible, with conviction.
