Ephesians 5:15-20 Walk in Wisdom

  I. Look carefully how you walk.
      A. Not as fools but as wise...
      B. Walking as children of light (Eph 5:8)

Ephesians 2:10; 4:1; 5:2.

      C. To walk in wisdom requires care.
         1. Remember what the walk of the foolish is like: Ephesians
2:1-3.
         2. Remember that the temptations of the devil are real
(6:12).

   II. Redeeming the time.
     A. Because the days are evil.

2Timothy 3:1-5; 2Peter 3:3; Galatians 1:4; Mark 8:38..

     B. The Lord himself promises to redeem the time for us!

Psalm 37:18-19; Psalm 90:14-16.

     C. Time passes along, what we do with it is up to us.
Colossians 4:5.
     D. Redeeming the time means godliness in living,
faithfulness in serving Christ .
            1. It requires faith in Christ and the fear of God to
redeem the time. Matthew 24:44; Luke 19:26.
        2. Not turning back to how we were. 1Peter 4:3.
        3. In an evil day, redemption of time means not adding to
the load of wickedness in the world. 1Peter 3:10.

III. Understand what the will of the Lord is.
     A. The path of the wise.

Proverbs 4:10-12; Psalm 119:104-105; Psalm 19:7.

     B. To walk in wisdom requires knowledge, but also skill in
using that knowledge to live to the glory of God.

Psalm 111:10.

         1. We acquire the knowledge of God’s will as we undergo the
process of Eph 4:23; Romans 12:2.
         2. We acquire skill as we practice living the Christian life.
1Thessalonians 4:1.
         3. Maturity comes as we overcome difficulties and
resistance by obeying the will of the Lord. Hebrews 5:8;
1Timothy 3:5; Titus 1:9.
             C. Watch your step: it’s a dangerous world and you are
only passing through.
        1. Walk as children of light: it is dark out there and
the people are blind.
        2. Redeem the time: start with the Lord’s Day.

Rest, worship, visit the sick, feed the stranger, love your brethren and family.

        3. Redeem the time: consecrate time for communion with
the Lord each day.

Worship, pray, meditate on his word.

        4. Understand what the will of the Lord is.

Eph 1:17. (Eph 2:22).

Do good works which God has prepared for you, Eph 2:10.

Walk worthy of your baptism, Eph 4:1.

Walk in godly love, Eph 5:2
