The living household of God grows on the foundation of Christ to be a holy dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
I. We form a living temple, built on God’s unique foundation, and growing to the
glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
A. God himself accomplishes his construction project: passive verbs.
B. God reveals himself in Tri-unity, he ministers to his people as a Trinity.
C. God builds us up on a unique foundation, Jesus Christ and the Gospel.

II. The chief cornerstone defines the quality and integrity of the structure.
A. The chief cornerstone defines the way the structure will come together.
Isaiah 28:16; Psalm 118:22
B. The cornerstone sets the standard for the quality of the building:
a holy temple.
C. Christ is God’s elect chief stone in the temple made of living stones.
1 Peter 2:5
D. God’s project: to build his holy dwelling place for life with his redeemed children.
Psalm 113:5; Isa 37:16; Rom 8:9; 1Cor 3:16; Rev 7:9-17
III. Consider your place in the church of God.
A. The Church is one, holy, catholic, apostolic.
(Nicene Creed, 381 AD)
B. The church is the eternal dwelling place of God; he will not set it aside.
C. Consider your place in God’s house.
1. Check to see what foundation you are building on.
2. What household duties have you taken on recently in God’s household?
3. Remember to take time to talk with, and listen to, the Father who dwells in the church.
