Ephesians 2:14-18 He Himself is Our Peace

Christ put to death the divisions caused by sin, and brought to life a new man who is in communion with the living God.

  I.  What Christ did to become our peace.

      A.  The fulfillment of prophecy: it is God’s design that Christ should be our peace.
          Micah 5:2 & 5:5; Luke 2:14 

      B.  The work of reconciliation: he broke down barriers.

          1. He broke down the wall of separation. 
	     Deuteronomy 32:8-9; Romans 4:15

          2. He abolished in his flesh the enmity
    
     C.  The work of creation: in himself, through the cross.

         1. He created one new man in himself from the two. 
	    Eph 4:22-24; Romans 13:14; Galatians 3:27

         2. He reconciled both Jew and Gentile to God through the cross. 
	    Isaiah 53:5; Romans 5:1
         

   II. What Christ does as our peace.
 

     A.  The work of mediation. 
         John 14:27; John 16:33; Luke 2:29.
    

     B.  The work of proclamation. 
	 Luke 1:79; Acts 10:36; Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:15; Ephesians 6:15.
    

     C.  The work of intercession. 
	 1 Kg 8:41-43;  Isaiah 56:6-8; Zechariah 8:22.
    

  III. What we are called to who are in peace.
 

     A.  Cherish the union we have in Christ.
    

     B.  Honor Christ’s sacrifice by keeping God’s commandments.
    

     C.  Do all we can to maintain peace among Christians. 
	 1 Peter 5:14
    

     D.  Hear the message of peace and speak it to others.
    

     E.  Make use of the access we have to the Father.
